Maya is the latest release by catalan artist Nigul (aka Jaume Muntsant). After one year of hard work and being busy with his other project Hermético, Muntsant releases his fifth album until the date.

Maya is a new twist on this dark ambient project. This time Muntsant releases a more aseptic album, cleaner and more minimalistic than its previous. It seems that conceptually Hermético and Nigul are getting closer in terms of economy of media and aesthetics. Despite this minimalistic issues, Maya also contains the list of themes that Muntasnt loves to bring up to the light, such us epic nostalgia, farewell encounters and misterious names of tracks.

Finally, with Maya, Nigul is walking a new path in which the guitar takes a new role on the construction of sonorities. As well there is always a special care on building a narrative flow of hidden ideas, lost stories and all sorts of secrets beneath all the layers of sound structures. And this is a reminder of the inspirational referents of this catalan artist, dark stories, secrets, epic, and finally David Lynch, somewhere watching us.

Reviews:

Circles Around The World is a various artists compilation that can be seen as a celebration of the 25th release in Audiotalaia Netlabel. Over this two years of work we have been releasing works from artist all around the world. For this special occasion we want to deliver a gathering of works under a common concept.

We asked the artists to work under certain premises. We asked them to try to portray some concepts or ideas on those pieces. Those concepts were based on the idea of a circle or cycle around the world, a journey across countries and cultures. The artists have been working on those ideas from the sonic point of view. Some of them have delivered tracks that represent features from the regions where they live. Some others have based their sound on travelling literature translating text into music. Some others have been working on soundscapes and sonic structures from their territory.

All together the compilation becomes a journey across the world, a conjunction of spaces, structures and scapes from all over the world. All of them are a representation of the thoughts and interests of each artist and their own perspective of the world.

Reviews:

SuperD'Orch is a digital orchestra. It was set up in 2009 as a combination of two research project briefs: to form and perform as a digital orchestra, and to use the audio programming language SuperCollider to build a performance environment.

The project explores the various issues that come with setting up a digital orchestra, which include issues relating to composition, performance and technology.

After much discussion, the group settled on the concept of a 'meta instrument'. SuperD'Orch then built project specific software applications using SuperCollider and Max/MSP which work together in various ways across the groups five laptops. Our performances are typically comprised of several musical pieces, each exploring a different compositional approach based upon the idea of the 'meta instrument' and the various ways in which it can be set up.

Ann Deveria from Madrid (Spain) delivers a live recording. The set is divided in two parts and all the materials are new works from this Spanish duo. The concert was played live at "Evenings" an experimental Music Venue in the Capital of Spain. The set was recorded the 22th of February 2009.

The first part is based on generating music digitally via laptop, while the second part is approached from an electric point of view, using guitars, pedals and microphones.

Reviews:

"Well, once more beautiful breakfast music. This came out in july 2009, on the audiotalaia label, and it includes 2 rather long and very nice tracks, recorded in february 2009, by ann deveria from madrid, Spain. Ann deveria is the project of angel and jose, like it says on their myspace page. they also released an ep called 'sant pedro' on error lo-fi in august 2008 and the 1-track release 'patio de luz' on yoyo pang! (which might have become one of my favorite tracks for this year's autumn..definetely also download the yoyo pang track!) There are 3 limited 3-inch cds by ann deveria, which still can be bought at diskpol...and here is their blog...all written in Spain, so i couldn't understand much of it..
looking forward to hear more stuff by those guys!
Here is the 'domingo tarde' Ep.."

Yearning for the summer, Audiotalaia Netlabel releases a new and refreshing Mixtape. This time and after a few time on the shadows, the section of Mixtapes reborn with three pieces brought specially from the coast line in Catalonia. Applezup (aka Christian Negre Walczak) sets up an extended mix of tracks ranging from the experimentation to post-rock, folk to ambient as well. Just Another Forecast Juice is another twist on the concept of mixtape and fixed composition or mixing.

Reviews:

Audiotalaia is proud to present the work of Portuguese artist Jorge Nunes. This is a really special release for us because many reasons. Principally because is the first time that Audiotalaia hosts a work done with non digital processing systems. Also WAVE / PULP is a two for the price of one album. It contains two tracks that are sisters in a really special way. Also it's the 20th release in Audiotalaia and we want to thank all the people who had made this possible.

Jorge Nunes bases it's work in live improvisation. He likes to manipulate instruments and non musical objects and synthesizers. And that is WAVE / PULP an experiment where different generes in music merge in two extensive compositions.

After almost one year Ryonkt is back to Audiotalaia. After a ascending and outstanding success through this year, the artist from Sapporo delivers another large soundscape of harmonic lines.

This time Ryonkt presents a gentle composition that goes by while listening. A sonic space where time stops and the soft waves of Periodic Wind drags yourself into a mysterious land.

Coming from Italy and with a promising career on the Netaudio scene, Ennio Mazzon presents in Audiotalaia his second solo release. After releasing a remix for Offthesky at Resting Bell and his debut "The Scent of Morning Lights" (Timetheory Netlabel, 2008), Mazzon delivers a collection of soundscapes, drones and subtle textures.

The sound of Mazzon it's refined and synthetic. The pace of time gets slowed down while listening Muffled. Different layers of stretched sounds are combined exquisitely all together forming a continuous and straight timeline that it's transforming in slow motion.

After the album released on summer 2008 at Resting Bell, Southern Recordings. Edu Comelles aka Mensa moved to Scotland where he is studying sound design. From the ashes of Southern recording arose an extended mix of one of the track of this mini album.

The Clifts it's another turning point on the concrete approach of Mensa in issues like soundscapism and composition. The piece it's almost 17 minutes long and goes on like a changing landscape that evolves in different shapes keeping a slow pace of progression.
